The route

The old peat road climbs gently out of Kelderby to the edge of the moor. From there a good path links the three Pennock Tarns, each in its own hollow, with lunch on the shore of Great Pennock.

We come down by Thrangill Beck, past the ruins of the old bobbin mill, and finish with a cup of tea in the village.

Who it’s for

Anyone used to a full day’s walking. There’s one steep, stony section on the way down, but nothing exposed.
